Renter Agreement & Informed Consent

Important: You will be exercising unsupervised, in a private space belonging to another person. Please read this Agreement carefully before your first booking.

1. About This Agreement

This Renter Agreement ("Agreement") sets out the terms under which you ("Renter") may book and use gym spaces listed on the GymNextDoor platform. By completing a booking, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by this Agreement and the wider Platform Terms & Conditions.

2. Eligibility

To book and use a gym space on GymNextDoor you must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Have a valid, active GymNextDoor account in good standing.
  • Have a genuine intention to use the space solely for personal fitness and exercise purposes.
  • Not be under the influence of alcohol, recreational drugs, or any substance that may impair your physical or cognitive ability to exercise safely.

3. Health Declaration & Informed Consent

Physical exercise carries inherent risks including, but not limited to, muscle strain, joint injury, cardiovascular events, dizziness, and falls. By making a booking you confirm that:

  • You are in good general health and are not aware of any medical condition that would make unsupervised exercise unsafe for you.
  • You have consulted a medical professional if you have any pre-existing health conditions, injuries, or concerns that may be relevant to exercise.
  • You are exercising voluntarily and accept full personal responsibility for your health and safety during each session.
  • You will stop exercising immediately if you feel unwell, dizzy, experience chest pain, or any other concerning symptom, and will seek appropriate medical attention.

Important: Nothing in this Agreement excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under the laws of England and Wales, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

4. Unsupervised Training

GymNextDoor sessions are unsupervised — no trainer, coach, or Host will typically be present during your session. By booking a session you acknowledge and accept that:

  • You are solely responsible for your own safety during the session.
  • You will only use equipment you are familiar with and competent to use safely.
  • You will not attempt maximal lifts, new exercises, or movements you have not previously performed under supervision.
  • You will follow any safety instructions or house rules posted within the space or provided by the Host.
  • You will familiarise yourself with the location of emergency exits, the first aid kit, and any emergency contact information displayed in the space before beginning your session.

5. Use of the Space

When using a gym space booked through GymNextDoor you agree to:

  • Arrive and depart within your booked time slot. Do not enter the space before your session start time or remain after your session end time.
  • Use all equipment only for its intended purpose and return it safely to its original position after use.
  • Treat the space and all equipment with care. You are responsible for any damage caused by your negligence or misuse.
  • Keep the space clean and tidy. Wipe down equipment after use where facilities are provided.
  • Not invite or permit any other person to enter the space during your session. Access is strictly personal and non-transferable.
  • Not smoke, vape, consume alcohol, or use recreational substances on the premises.
  • Respect the privacy and property of the Host at all times. Do not enter any part of the property outside of the designated gym space.
  • Not record video or take photographs of the Host's property or belongings without explicit prior consent from the Host.

6. Damage & Incidents

If you cause accidental damage to equipment or the property during your session, you must report this to GymNextDoor at hello@gymnextdoor.co.uk and to the Host as soon as reasonably practicable, and no later than 24 hours after the session.

You may be held financially liable for damage caused by your negligence or misuse of the space or equipment.

In the event of a medical emergency during your session, call 999 immediately. Notify GymNextDoor and the Host as soon as it is safe to do so.

7. Conduct & Respect

GymNextDoor is built on mutual trust between Hosts and Renters. You agree to treat every Host's space as you would wish others to treat your own home. Any conduct that is abusive, threatening, discriminatory, or that violates a Host's reasonable house rules may result in immediate account suspension and, where appropriate, referral to relevant authorities.

8. Reviews

Following each session, you may be invited to leave a review of the space and your experience. Reviews must be honest, fair, and based on your genuine experience. GymNextDoor reserves the right to remove reviews that are fraudulent, abusive, or otherwise in breach of our community standards.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, GymNextDoor accepts no liability for personal injury, illness, or death arising from your use of a gym space booked through the Platform, where such injury, illness, or death does not arise from our own negligence.

GymNextDoor accepts no liability for loss or damage to your personal belongings while using a booked space.

The Host, not GymNextDoor, is responsible for the safety and condition of the gym space. Any claims relating to the condition of a space should be directed to the Host in the first instance.

10. Acceptance

By completing your first booking on GymNextDoor, you confirm that:

  • You have read and understood this Renter Agreement in full.
  • You agree to comply with all terms set out above.
  • You accept the inherent risks associated with unsupervised physical exercise.
  • You are medically fit to exercise to the best of your knowledge.

This Agreement applies to every booking you make on the Platform. If you do not agree to these terms, you must not make a booking.
